Joseph works as a security guard at a London airport. The routine nature of his job has led him to an alienating existence, until one day when something inside him goes "click" and his character becomes aggressive and almost criminal. Presented at Sundance and in Berlin and driven by an electrifying Ben Whishaw, Surge is the portrait of a man falling upwards.
His short films Beat (13) and Work (16) were very well received around the international circuit, and the second was nominated for a BAFTA award. He has also directed episodes of the series Pure and Top Boys. Surge is his feature film debut.
