Sitges applied for recognition by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) and created an official in-competition selection, accompanied by an informative showcase and the usual revival of film classics. The honor of serving on the first jury in the history of the Sitges Film Festival went to critic Tomás García de la Puerta, director Juan José Porto, musicologist and essayist Ornella Volta, and American critic Peter Besas.
