Sam, an American teenager of Indian origin, tries to be similar to her white high school classmates in an attempt to be accepted, which causes problems both with her family and with her friend Tamira. When a demon from Hindu mythology kidnaps Tamira, Sam is forced to draw on her own cultural heritage to figure out how to defeat it.
