Recently premiering at the Venice Film Festival, Pupi Avati's latest release is a gothic tale shot in exquisite black and white, with echoes of Mario Bava. Set during World War II, it tells the story of the love affair between an Italian writer and an American military auxiliary, which will take an extremely sinister turn when a year later, he moves to the American Midwest to write his novel.
