Synopsis

The big screen adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's chilling bestseller doesn't skimp when it comes to extreme violence and gritty nihilism. Executive Patrick Bateman desperately wants to fit into an immoral, modern world, struggling day after day to try to be the perfect man. But the more anonymous he becomes, the more his psychopathic instincts come to the surface. A satire about the dangers of the egotism of rich, heterosexual white men, which opened the 33rd edition of the Festival.

Director

Mary Harron

After making her feature debut as a director and screenwriter with I Shot Andy Warhol (1996), she would go on to create her crowning achievement, American Psycho (2000), a memorable adaptation of the novel of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis.
