Nothing better to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of landing on the Moon than enjoying Moon, that recovers the tradition of seventies science fiction, with a taste for models when it comes to preparing the visual effects. Duncan Jones, David Bowie’s son, debuts in direction with this puzzle that recalls Silent Running or Solaris while avoiding the excess of metaphysics and strengthening the humanist outline. But Moon is Sam Rockwell, excellent as the sole employee at a lunar station, backed by Kevin Spacey’s unmistakable voice giving personality to a cybernetic model that can easily stand alongside the mythic HAL 9000.
