Bad Lieutenant: Port of call New Orleans

de Werner Herzog

Bad Lieutenant; and his most recent movie is produced by the illuminated David Lynch. The encounter with the first was as fruitful as it was conflictive. Ferrara didn’t like what Herzog did with his corrupt lieutenant: move him to the decadent post-Katrina New Orleans, give free reign to Cage’s histrionic touches and allow an ironic insanity to erase any trace of mysticism. For Herzog, souls dance hip hop and snakes slip into one’s imagination. Not even the purest hallucination could do so far.
