Synopsis
In 1582, Hideyoshi Toyotomi directs Japan’s destiny with extreme cruelty without hiding his plans for expansion. His rise to power was a result of treason that put an end to General Nobunaga Oda, and his secret is hidden in a mysterious box. Goemon, a local ‘Robin Hood’, will become Toyotomi’s worse threat when the conspiracy is discovered. After his celebrated Casshern, Kiriya floods our retinas with a high-tech blockbuster that infographically sieves one of the decisive moments in Japan’s history and turns it into an exciting dark fantasy full of ninjas, samurais and indestructible heroes.

Kazuaki Kiriya
1968, Kumamoto prefecture, Japan. Photographer, screenwriter and filmmaker, he has created numerous music videos and in 2004 he directed Casshern (Sitges’04), a stylized debut movie that revealed his passion for visual effects. Goemon is his second feature film.
