Pritam and Radha, a couple from New Delhi, try to rebuild their marriage by spending their vacation in the forest. There they run into Abhishek, Radha’s old lover, who now works for the police. As old passions come to light, crouching in the shadows is an infinitely greater threat. Indian director of international vocation Ashvin Kumar’s long-awaited coming-out begins with a relaxed cadence, full of beautiful images of wild nature and supernatural notes, and finally blows up into an intense thriller of survival and ecological denunciation that traps spectators and sinks its fangs into them.
Of Indian nationality, he studied in London and is the founder of his own production company, Alipur Films. An actor and editor before becoming a director, his short film Little Terrorist (05) was nominated for an Academy Award and it received over fifteen international awards. The Forest is his first feature film.
