American Grindhouse

de Elijah Drenner

Synopsis

“Exploitation basically means there’s an element you can exploit. It’s a hook to get them into the theater”, says John Landis in American Grindhouse. This documentary is an in-depth exploration of a label, exploitation, that left its mark on American movies and culture (as exemplified by Quentin Tarantino). A series of interviews with some of the most important names in North American cinema (Dante, Landis, Cohen, among others) are combined with actor Robert Forster’s off-screen voice in an essential document for genre lovers and for any cinema buff in general.
