A Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop (San Qiang Pai an Jing Qi)

de Zhang Yimou

A remake of Blood Simple is already a big hook. If on top of that it’s made by the aesthete Zhang Yimou, things get even more interesting. Wang owns a noodle shop in the middle of the desert. His young wife, Lia, and some employees live with him. Coexistence isn’t at all easy: Wang is miserly and tyrannical and Li is in a relationship with the cook. Everything changes when a cop hired by the husband to bump off the unfaithful couple arrives on the scene. With this film Yimou delves into the sphere of comedy, but without giving up his taste for emphasizing colors and beautifully, stealthily made action.
