Hara Kiri: Death Of A Samurai (3D) (Ichimei)

de Takashi Miike

Synopsis

The brilliant Takashi Miike returns to Sitges with a movie that is related to 13 Assassins: an elegant period film full of restrained action and very skillfully controlled explosions of violence. Ichimei tells the story of Hanshiro, a samurai who arrives at a clan’s residence with the intention of putting an end to his life by performing the hara-kiri ritual. The clan leader tries to talk him out of it by telling him the tragic story of Motome, a young man who, not so long ago, had arrived at this place with the same intentions. Miike constructs a 3D movie that, through flashbacks, delves deeply into the terrain of love and vengeance.
