Underwater Love (Onna No Kappa)

de Shinji Imaoka

Asuka works at a fish factory and is absorbed in all the preparations for her upcoming wedding. Her plans will change drastically when a kappa ?a man reincarnated into a sea being? longing for human warmth invades her life. Christopher Doyle, Wong Kar-wai?s usual director cinematography, is in charge of the image; and the Franco German duo Stereo Total, of the music. As for the director, Shinji Imaoka, he offers an intimately over the top film where the Japanese tradition of pink films merges with fantasy and musical. A free, surprising film, on a par with Bruce LaBruce?s deliriums.
