A master of excess, this year Sion Sono is also presenting Guilty of Romance. As if it weren’t enough to see his vision of the late but unbridled sexual awakening of a housewife, Sitges completes the menu with a second (but no less intense) dish. In Himizu, the Japanese filmmaker adapts the famous Minoru Furuya manga and to it he adds the anxiety caused by the tsunami and the earthquake that battered Japan just before filming started. Yuichi Sumida is a boy who only wants to be a normal person; his classmate, Keiko Chazawa, only wants to be loved. Together they must confront the evil that prevails in the world.
One of the most outstanding Japanese directors in the last two decades thanks to films like Suicide Club (2001), Love Exposure (2008) and Tokyo Tribe (2014). Time Machine Award winner at Sitges 2015.
