Mom, who’s that behind you?”. With this sentence, the lid of the horror jar comes off. While chatting with her daughter on Skype, a woman discovers a strange presence in her recently deceased mother’s house. Following the woman’s disappearance, it will soon be her sister’s turn, as she moves into the house with the intention of understanding what the hell is going on. A full-fledged horror movie full of well concocted scares, The Pact already has the makings to be one of the big hits of the season. It doesn’t need lots of resources, it’s enough for it to simply play (and very well at that) with genre conventions.

Nicholas McCarthy
