Holy Motors
de Léos Carax
Trailer
Synopsis
Sometimes, things are worth the wait. Especially, if it’s for a film by Léos Carax, enfant terrible of French cinema. Since 1999, Carax had only shot some music videos and shorts (one of the fragments of Tokyo!, seen in Sitges and with one of the characters appearing in this Holy Motors). Following this long period of lethargy, he now returns with an instant cult movie. Monsieur Oscar travels by limousine every day. At each stop, he makes up a new character. A game of masks, a tribute to the magician of the fantastic Georges Franju and an interpretative monument by Denis Lavant, Holy Motors is one of the film events of the year.
Director
Léos Carax
France, 1960. After starting off in theory (he took classes with Serge Daney, among others, and wrote briefly for Cahiers du Cinéma), he took the big leap into practice to become an essential filmmaker. Some outstanding films from his singular career are: Mauvais Sang (86), Les Amants du Pont Neuf (91) and Pola X (99).
