Kaori and her friends have rented a small cabin in Okinawa to celebrate their graduation. There, they are attacked by a strange animal that they finally kill by crushing it against the wall. To their surprise, they discover that it is a fish grafted with mechanical legs. Soon, all of Japan will be invaded by a plague of aggressive mechanized fish. Midnight X-Treme opens up to animated cinema with Gyo, a screen version of the manga with the same name by Junji Ito. Although other works by this author have been taken to the silver screen –Uzumaki, Tomie–, never until now had his sick universe been taken to anime. And undoubtedly Gyo, with its grotesque premise and its sharp fanged fish, will leave his followers more than satisfied.
