A boat sets sail from the coast of New Bedford and travels into the Atlantic. We see it do some routine fishing jobs. Based on this premise, Leviathan becomes a profoundly hypnotic movie with apocalyptic overtones. The directors fill the boat with cameras that capture everything: from the fish blood that returns to the sea to the sharp movement of the boat’s prow plowing through the water.
