The Wind Rises

de Hayao Miyazaki

This is a special film, for diverse reasons. First of all, it is an important variation on the work of Hayao Miyazaki and the Ghibli Studio, as it leaves the boundless fantasy of his more famous works to focus on two real figures: Jiro Horikoshi, designer of the Zero fighter plane, and Tatsuo Hori, author of the novel that gives the film its name. So Miyazaki places his visual and narrative genius at the disposal of a story connected to his country’s history. On the other hand, the maestro has announced that this will be his last film, making it one of the movie events of the year.
