Building futures: cinema, design fiction, future scenarios, city and mobility

This event invites you to immerse yourself in the world of design fiction and futuristic scenarios seen from the cinema, emphasizing the creation of cities, innovative mobility systems and disruptive objects. It will explore how cinema has influenced our conception of the future and how film settings have shaped our expectations for urban life and mobility in society.

Through emblematic examples, it will show how imagination and technology converge to shape sought-after realities. Topics include design fiction, the evolution of futuristic scenario design, the power of visualization in urban and mobility planning, futuristic cities and their functionality, the mobility of the future with emerging technologies, and how human-centered design and emotional narrative can influence the perception and adoption of technological and urban changes.

In addition, the importance of collaboration between filmmakers, designers and other experts to develop realistic scenarios will be highlighted. The aim is to inspire attendees to imagine a more sustainable and exciting future, to reflect on the relationship between cinema and reality, and to investigate how imagination can guide the path towards a better future.

The event will take the form of a dialogue between Alessandro Manetti and Jordi Sánchez-Navarro, who will reflect on the commentary of cinematographic fragments that will be screened in the room. The expert in innovation and design Pablo Lara-Navarra will moderate the event.
