J.A. Bayona gave a master class in the Tramuntana Room on The Orphanage, where the attending audience, made up mainly of film and Audiovisual Communication students, where able to ask the director and members of the technical crew all different types of questions.
Bayona pointed out the importance of a genre festival like the Sitges Festival, assuring them that the press, audiences, filmmakers and the film industry coincide in confirming that Sitges has the most important international Fantasy Film Festival of all. The director of The Orphanage said that thanks to movie encounters like the one in Sitges, the necessary synergies are generated to carry out future audiovisual projects, and he nostalgically pointed out one of the movies that especially moved him years ago at the festival: Army of Darkness, by Sam Raimi.
The movie's digital effects crew showed how they did some of the film's opticals and effects, during which Bayona explained what he used as a basis for the conception and design of elements like the lighthouse or the house where the action takes place, constructed digitally to later incrust the image in a real setting.
