French filmmaker Alexandre Aja will be kicking off the 41st edition of the Sitges – International Film Festival of Catalonia with the screening of his latest film, Mirrors, which will premiere in Spain with the title Reflejos.
Mirrors will be opening Sitges 08 on October 2nd, representing a perfect combination of the different fantasy film tendencies that the Sitges Festival is committed to at each edition.
Alexandre Aja, a Hollywood resident ever since he did the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, continues his career in the United States with this film that represents the best made in USA horror cinema.
The French filmmaker is an old Festival acquaintance, since in 2003 he won the award for Best Director with the movie that terrified half the world and made him a cult director, High Tension (Haute tension).
A thriller loaded with a fantastic atmosphere, Mirrors is a remake of Into the mirror, a South Korean film that was presented at the Festival during the 2003 edition and that attracted the audience’s attention.
Along with Paula Patton and Amy Smart, the film stars Kiefer Sutherland in the role of a somewhat tormented ex-cop who sees his home targeted by an evil force that uses mirrors as a gateway into it.
