The Sitges Film Festival finishes its third year running with the highest proceeds in its history
The film competition finishes its 52nd edition, held from October 3rd to 13th, with a very positive balance
One week ago, Sitges 2019 said goodbye to an edition that maintained its positive numbers from previous years, confirming fantastic genre’s exceptional current condition. The organization is already starting to thread the needle for its next edition, which will take place from 8th to 18th October, 2020.
The 66,278 tickets sold represent the third maximum record in the Festival’s history, placing the Festival’s total proceeds at 707,502 euros. The final ranking of films in highest demand by audiences consisted of The Lighthouse, Ready or Not, The Lodge, Color Out of Space and the winning feature film El hoyo (The Platform).
Sitges 2019 programmed close to 300 feature and short films; over twenty industry activities, and had more than 300 guests from all around the world.
The director of the Sitges - International Film Festival of Catalonia Foundation, Mònica Garcia Massagué, values these figures very positively: "The final balance demonstrates the love for fantastic genre films that Sitges’ audiences show year after year, who responded enthusiastically to an original lineup. Meanwhile, the film industry also repeated its annual encounter with Sitges, honoring its reputation as an exceptional venue for networking and discovering new talents."
