'Freaky', the Spanish premiere for Sitges 2020 surprise screening
Produced by Jason Blum, directed by Christopher Landon and starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn, the film puts an ultimate spin on slasher films with a very dark horror comedy
The classic surprise screening on the Festival's second Saturday already has a title for this 53rd edition. This year it's Freaky, the latest sensation in horror comedies, produced by Blumhouse, with an updated version of the classic "body swap" that places a teenage girl in the body of a ruthless serial killer. Christopher Landon -director of Happy Death Day, presented at Sitges 2017- puts an ultimate spin on slasher films through a body swap between a fierce psychopath and a teenage girl. A reinterpretation of gender roles that triggers a bloody game of mix-ups, starring the remarkable Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn.
The Spanish premiere of this horror comedy, which guarantees plenty of excitement and laughter in equal doses, will be at the Meliá Hotel Auditori this Saturday at 11:30 pm. The best way to wrap up an intense Saturday featuring the very best fantastic genre films at Sitges 2020. After its screening at the Festival, the film will be released in theaters nationwide in Spain on November 13th, distributed by Universal Pictures International Spain.
