The best soundtracks return to the Palau de la Música

This Friday April 10th, at the Teatre Principal in Sabadell, and Saturday April 11th at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Vallès Symphony Orchestra (VSO) will be offering the Simfònics al Palau (Palau Symphonics) series, one of their traditional concerts dedicated to the most popular film soundtracks. A concert organized in collaboration with Phenomena Experience and the Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia. Under the slogan “The immortals of cinema”, the concert is intended to be a unique, plurisensorial performance, for which the VSO, conducted by its incumbent director, Rubén Gimeno, has invited actors and dubbers Mercè Montalà and Salvador Vidal. Two artists who are the voices, respectively, of Michelle Pfeiffer, Sharon Stone, Julia Roberts, Catherine Z. Jones or Uma Thurman, and George Clooney, Mel Gibson, Liam Neeson, John Travolta, Ed Harris, Richard Gere, Michael Douglas, Willem Dafoe, Alec Baldwin or Harrison Ford, and who will present each of the pieces and stage some of the most legendary passages from the history of cinema.

The program presents the different melodies that have illustrated emblematic films like Pulp Fiction (Quentin Tarantino, 1994), with the frenetic tune Misirlou or Chuck Berry’s You Never Can Tell; The Deer Hunter (Michael Cimino, 1978), with Cavatina by British composer Stanley Myers; Copying Beethoven (Agniezska Holland, 2006), with fragments from pieces by Ludvig van Beethoven; Basic Instinct (Paul Verhoeven, 1992), with Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack; The Mission (Roland Joffe, 1986), with music by Ennio Morricone, or Chicago (Rob Marshall, 2002), with music by John Kander. From the now “classic” John Williams, they will be offering the most famous fragments from Schindler’s List (Steven Spielberg, 1993), Jurassic Park (Steven Spielberg, 1993), Star Wars (George Lucas, 1977) and The Patriot (Roland Emmerich, 2000).
