Sitges Pitchbox 2020 confirms the jury of experts and extends the call for projects until September 8
The Filmarket Hub platform and the Sitges Film Festival have confirmed the members of the jury for Sitges Pitchbox - an international pitch event dedicated to horror, sci-fi and fantasy projects. The 2020 edition will be held virtually and for the first time will be focused on both international feature films and European scripted series in development.
The jury for international feature films consists of Javier Fernández, Blood Window Director; Mònica Garcia, General Director - Fundació Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya, and Jongsuk Thomas Nam, NAFF Managing Director at Bucheon Int'l Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). The jury for European scripted series consists of Carolina Bang, Producer, co-founder of Pokeepsie Films and actress; Susana Herreras, Head of Series Development at Movistar+, and Katrin Pors, Producer and Partner at Snowglobe Film.
Both juries will determine the winners of the four cash awards to support development expenses. The best feature film will be awarded with 5.000€, while the two runner up feature films will receive 1.000€ each. An award of 2.500€ will be granted to the best scripted series.
In addition, with a renewed partnership with the International Film Festival & Awards · Macao, one of the submitted projects to Sitges Pitchbox will participate at the IFFAM Project Market - a co-production and co-financing forum in the framework of the Asian festival.
The call for projects for Sitges Pitchbox has been extended and will remain open on Filmarket Hub until the 8th of September. Seven films and seven series will be selected and representatives from the projects will have seven minutes each to pitch to the industry executives. They will then be offered fifteen-minute speed meetings with each of the participating companies.
The event will take place over four days during the Sitges Film Festival; October 8th and 9th will be dedicated to scripted series and October 15th and 16th to feature films. Confirmed participants include companies such as Atresmedia Studios, El Estudio, Film Factory, Filmax, Gaumont, Globalgate Entertainment, Leonine, Lionsgate, Nadcon Film, Showrunner Films, Wild Bunch and XYZ Films.
