Alex Proyas receives the Time Machine Award in Sitges
Alex Proyas received the honorific Time Machine award from the Festival director, Angel Sala. The act occurred during the 40th edition's opening gala. Proyas received the SITGES-International Film Festival of Catalonia's acknowledgement of his career as a filmmaker with movies that, today, are a milestone in the horror and science fiction genre.
Embedded in our memories forever are the interpretation of the ill-fated Brandon Lee in The Crow (1994) along with the disturbing atmosphere of Dark City (1998), undoubtedly two of his visions that have made the deepest impression on fantasy film lovers, while not forgetting the rest of his work as a director, producer and screenwriter. Alex Proyas also showed his concerns about the mysteries of biomechanics in I, Robot, (2004), his most recent feature film to date, where he presents issues like the controversial conflict between science and religion, using the human body as a battlefield against an established technocracy operating against the interests of the human being.
