Sitges 2018 increased its ticket sales by 1.02%, which adds up to a 15.27% increase over the last five editions
Once again, Sitges increased the number of tickets sold this year and reached the amount of 67,884, 1.02% more than last year, when it beat its previous record of box-office receipts and visitors on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. With this new increase, the Festival recorded an increase of 15.27% in the last five years.
The Festival of the stars (from Nicolas Cage to John Carpenter to Tilda Swinton, Pam Grier, Ron Perlman, Ed Harris or M. Night Shyamalan, among many others) exceeded the number of tickets sold at the Festival’s 50th anniversary, which had already set a new all-time record.
This 2018, the Festival reached the number of 67,884 tickets sold, 1.02% more than last year. This increase is highly significant due to the fact that on one of the Festival’s biggest box-office receipt days (the second Saturday) it was necessary to program four screenings less at the Melià Sitges Auditori (with a seating capacity for 1,384 pax) in order to prepare the stage for John Carpenter’s concert.
The increase in turnover this 2018 was higher than the proportional number of tickets and reached 4.5%, with a total amount of 750,350 euros. This increase in takings is essential for the Festival’s commitment to increase its resources and invest them in programming, activities and inviting world-class guests, as was the case this year.
2018’s increase consolidates these last year’s growth. Between the 2014 and the 2018 festivals, the increase in ticket sales was 15.27%.
