The Festival creates Fantastic 7, together with the Marché du Film de Cannes and one of the creators ofthe Blood Window platform, for the purpose of promoting the fantastic industry
The Sitges Festival -in tandem with the Marché du Film du Festival de Cannes and the Blood Window platform’s promoter, Bernardo Bergeret- have created Fantastic 7, a forum aimed at fostering emerging talents in the genre industry and supporting their connection with potential business partners. Fantastic 7 will be holding its first edition on Sunday 19 May as a part of the Film Festival, backed by the director J.A. Bayona.
Fantastic 7 is born with the intention of becoming a framework for dialogue between creators and investors, in order to favor the development of projects and the business opportunities that arise from them. This initiative is promoted by three agents who are very familiar with the circuit and the sector’s reality, which are the Cannes Market (the world’s leading market), Bernardo Bergeret with his extensive experience at Blood Window (benchmark genre platform) and the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (the world’s number 1 fantastic film festival) that, four years ago, presented the Sitges Pitchbox project competition.
The initiative screens seven proposals presented by seven festivals around the planet, all sharing the fantasy genre as one of their distinguishing features through their lineup. In addition to the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, the other festivals that are part of the initiative are: the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Cairo International Film Festival, the Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico), the International Film Festival and Awards - Macao, South by Southwest and the Toronto International Film Festival.
Fantastic 7 seeks to bring different projects currently being implemented or already finished closer to investors from around the world, with the aim of promoting their development. The project also incorporates a space for the study and analysis of trends in the fantasy genre industry, adding a sector monitor to it.
