The Spanish Premiere of Rob Savage's 'DASHCAM', Surprise Film at Sitges 2021
The director of the highly acclaimed 'Host' from 2020 returns to Sitges with his third film, DASHCAM, where he returns with a movie of screen-based horror produced by Blumhouse.
Sitges unveils one of the big secrets in this 54th edition's line-up, the surprise screening this Sunday 17th. The director of the highly acclaimed Host from 2020, a film shot during confinement in a masterful exercise in economy of resources and creation of a terrifying atmosphere via computer screens, returns to Sitges to present his third feature length film, DASHCAM, starring singer Annie Hardy, with a screenplay by Rob Savage himself together with Gemma Hurley and Jed Shepherd.
The film follows a woman who travels to England from the U.S. to get away from the lockdown to be able to continue filming her streamed program, Band Car Show, only to find herself plunged into a terrifying situation when she picks up a blood-soaked woman in her car. DASHCAM had its world premiere at Toronto's Midnight Madness (TIFF) last September 2021 where it came in second place in the People' Choice vote for Best Midnight Screening. Several media outlets have defined it as "The Internet era's Blair Witch Project", a found footage style film shot with iPhones during the pandemic and also set in times of Covid.
The Spanish premiere of DASHCAM will take place next Sunday October 17th with two sessions, the first at the Auditori at 18:30 followed by a Q&A with its director; the second will be at the Retiro at 20:30. Rob Savage will be present in Sitges in person to present the film and answer questions from the audience in a Q&A following the screening.
