J. A Bayona, along with the rest of the movie's crew, thanked the audience in Sitges, and very specially the film's producer, Guillermo del Toro, who greeted those attending the festival through a pre-recorded video shown on the Auditori's majestic screen. A greeting loaded with congeniality and best wishes for Bayona, who was visibly moved during the entire presentation given the audience's warm reception of his movie.
The Orphanage will be premiering in the US in December with a total of 1,000 copies that will be distributed to American movie theaters, in its race to the Hollywood Academy Awards: an unprecedented goal for any other production conceived in our country. Joaquim Padró from the Rodar y Rodar production company, and executive producer of El Orfanato, confirmed the excellent pool of young filmmakers being forged in our country, sticking his neck out for new directors looking for financing to make their first feature film.
