Mirrors, Alexandre Aja's latest film, was the one chosen to open the 41st edition of the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia. The opening gala, held on Thursday the 2nd in the Hotel Meliá's Auditorium, was supposed to be attended by the French director. However for reasons beyond the organization's control, Aja was not able to be there for the presentation of his film.
The movie, a fantasy thriller, tells the story of a security guard fighting against himself and the diabolic presence hidden behind the mirrors that surround him.
Kiefer Sutherland plays the role of a cop removed from active service because of an accidental death. Mirrors also stars Paula Patton and Amy Smart.
Also screened at the opening gala was Cotton Candy, a Basque short with no dialogue based on a Julio Cortázar.
