Guillem Morales’s film, Los ojos de Julia, will be opening this year’s 43 SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia on Thursday, October 7th.
Produced by Rodar y Rodar, Guillermo del Toro, Universal International, Antena 3 Films and TVC, Los ojos de Julia is the terrifying odyssey of a woman (Belén Rueda) suffering from a degenerative eye disease who is obsessed with finding out the truth behind her twin sister’s death. The film co-stars Lluis Homar, Pablo Derqui, Joan Dalmau, Francesc Orella and Julia Guitiérrez Caba, and it will be in theaters 29thOctober.
Once again, SITGES shows its commitment to genre cinema produced in Catalonia with an international scope and made by a young filmmaker, Guillem Morales, who was actually discovered at the Festival in 2004 with his debut film El habitante incierto (The Uncertain Guest).
In other news, SITGES 2010 will be opening its Official Fantastic Selection with the film Let Me In, by Matt Reeves (director of Cloverfield, a remake of the hit Swedish movie Let the Right One In, Golden Méliès award winner at SITGES 2008 and that now stars Chloe Moretz (the child superhero in Kick-Ass), Kodi Smith-McPhee (The Road) and Academy Award nominee, Richard Jenkins.
Let Me In is also the return of the mythical Hammer production company and sets a trend at the SITGES 2010 Festival which will be the vampire theme.
Let Me In will be distributed in Spain by the independent company Aurum.
