Sitges 2018 begins its space voyage

The Festival’s guests will be making 18 red carpet appearances

The 51st Sitges 2018 - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is already revving its engines. Ahead of us, ten days of intense emotions: 250 films at seven screening venues –four of them movie theaters–, 21 VR cinema experiences and 108 guest celebrities. The Meliá Sitges Auditorium will be the main stage where directors, actors and actresses will make almost 20 red carpet appearances at this year’s Festival.

The Sitges 2018 - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is ready to open its doors to the more than 200,000 visitors who come together each year at this world class cinematic event. For eleven days, from October 4th to 14th, the very best genre films will be arriving in Sitges, a place that will become the showcase for the hottest fantastic film creations, both major productions and the most daring, little independent movie gems. Less than 48 hours away from kicking off the event, the Festival has everything ready and presents ‘astronomical’ figures: 6.66 kilometers of movie-loving space ship, 250 films, 3,000 galactic seats in 7 screening hangars, 21 virtual reality experiences, 108 earthling guests, 3,000 meters of red carpet, 1,784 nanoseconds of gravitational time dilation.

18 red carpet appearances and a dozen convos with guests

Directors like Peter Weir or M. Night Shyamalan, actors like Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Nicolas Cage or Ed Harris, and important film industry figures like Douglas Trumbull or Greg Nicotero, among many other big names, will be the stars of the 18 red carpet appearances and more than a dozen convos that the Festival has prepared. In addition, Sitges 2018 is completing its 51st year with an extensive variety of parallel activities, like the Sitges Film Hub (industry meetings), seven exhibitions, master classes, presentations, Q&As, and it will be enhancing its virtual reality and series selection this year.

A cultural, film-loving proposal for all audiences and different tastes, full of big stars who will be parading around the Festival’s different venues and red carpets.
